Demand increases: Yad Ezer L'Haver continues to distribute hundreds of additional schoolbags to needy families
The social and economic gaps in Israel are only widening and there are many families unable to buy even a new satchel for school. Alongside students who come to school equipped from head to toe, with branded clothes and shoes as well as a new smartphone, there are those who have only a ragged old bag, an empty pencil case, no sandwich or water bottle, all due to severe financial hardship. While the "Yad Ezer L'Haver " cars are moving through Haifa neighborhoods distributing the satchels in many of Haifa's neighborhoods, including: Shaar Aliyah, Bat-Galim, Neve Yosef and Neve David, the Founder and CEO of the Yad Ezer L'Haver Association in Haifa stated: "We have already distributed hundreds of schoolbags throughout Haifa, but unfortunately the great demand is only intensifying. Every once in a while, when the question of how we will fund such a huge and important project rises again, I remember the happy tears in the children's eyes, when receiving the schoolbags and I clearly will never give up, not even for a moment. A schoolbag, is not just a learning accessory, it is motivation, social and emotional status, and the opportunity to learn leisurely – which will allow the children not to enter the cycle of poverty.
I would like to sincerely thank all the many volunteers and donors who helped me distribute the satchels and thus fulfill the expectations and distribute this year as well high-quality orthopedic schoolbags and products made by leading companies in Israel. Furthermore, we have filled the schoolbags with tremendous quantities of writing instruments, such as: Notebooks, pencil cases, , eraser pencils and all the equipment needed for every student in school. " He added with excitement, :"Just seeing this huge operation in front of my eyes makes me very happy, for many years I have been advocating the slogan" A Schoolbag for every child "and for over three decades I have been distributing schoolbags, hoping to continue on such an important and sacred mission for many years to come, and as long as I breathe. I want to thank everyone for allowing me to continue to carry out this blessed project that I started 30 years ago, I wish everyone and all the students in the State of Israel a successful , blessed and fruitful school year! "
