The Yad Ezer L'Haver in Haifa is embarking on the huge operation "Save the Avraham" – and we cannot do it without you… Come join us and help us … The Yad Ezer L'Haver helps the Holocaust survivor of Neve David suburb in Haifa … To be Continued!Avraham Berkowitz, an 85-year-old Holocaust survivor from Romania, lives alone on King Solomon Street in Neve David's neighborhood of Haifa. Abraham lives in the most abominable conditions in a dilapidated, run-down and neglected apartment. This short video speaks for itself and every additional word is unnecessary. We must act urgently!!Founder and Managing Director of Yad Ezer L'Haver in Haifa Mr. Shimon Sabag said: "It is impossible and inconceivable that in 2019 an elderly and destitute Holocaust survivor should live in such a horrible situation in Haifa and in the State of Israel, in living conditions that are not suitable for human residence!"The Yad Ezer L'Haver decided to immediately rise to the challenge and open its heart as usual. By the end of the week Abraham had already left his apartment and was moved to the "Warm Community for Holocaust Survivors" in Kassel Street, Haifa. While Abraham is living and recuperating with our Holocaust survivor residents , many warm-hearted volunteers and professional construction workers will work on his dilapidated apartment and renovate Abraham's home to make it worthy of human residence so he can return home soon.
